AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF DESOTO COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI, TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE HISTORIC DESOTO FOUNDATION, INC., FOR THE PURPOSE OF ESTABLISHING A MUSEUM IN DESOTO COUNTY; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. The Board of Supervisors of DeSoto County, Mississippi, is hereby authorized and empowered, in its discretion, to contribute, from any available county funds, an amount not to exceed Two Hundred Thousand Dollars ($200,000.00) during Fiscal Year 1999 to the Historic DeSoto Foundation, Inc. The funds provided to the Historic DeSoto Foundation, Inc., pursuant to this section shall be used for the establishment of a public museum in DeSoto County, Mississippi, including, but not limited to, the acquisition of land, construction of a museum on such land and the operation and maintenance of the museum facility and exhibitions in such facility.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
